About SCS Midwest

SCS Midwest Inc. is a group of licensed and designated appraisers serving lenders and emerging technology companies. We have a collaboration of licensed appraisers across the nation to meet individual state regulatory requirements. Working tirelessly over the past two decades to serve our clients, SCS Midwest provides third party commercial appraisal reviews with the experience you require to produce confidence in your valuation. SCS also supports Software Solution Providers to help improve existing applications and develop new valuation tools by improving accuracy and subsequently greater market acceptance.

Leadership Team

Karen Mack

Karen has had an avid interest in real estate since age 12 when her father asked her to help evaluate the income and expense statement on a small three flat located in the south suburbs of Chicago. After obtaining a B.S. in mechanical and bioengineering in 1988 from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), she worked as a design engineer for suppliers to the automotive and biomedical industries, subsequently working for McDonald’s Corporation where she enjoyed many years of overseas travel to Asia, the Middle East, and South America to assist design engineers in opening new restaurants.

In 1997, she obtained a commercial appraisers license and started her appraisal career. Independent Compliance Services, Inc. was born in 2006 (changing to Strategic Compliance Solutions, Inc. in 2008 and SCS Midwest, Inc. in 2018) where she has enjoyed many years of problem solving in collaboration with SCS team members, clients, and appraisers.

Karen is married, has four children, and one Airedale Terrier named Gracie. In her spare time, she is an adoption advocate and enjoys giving support to both prospective and post-adoptive parents for both international and domestic adoptions.

Lisa Jackson

Lisa Jackson‘s background is in Human Capital Management with 20+ years of experience in management and business operations.  Lisa joined SCS Midwest, Inc in 2011 to lead and manage appraisal processes for SCS in the Midwest region.

She continues to work with SCS management, reviewers, vendors and customers to mesh the needs of the market with SCS’ service offerings and corporate principles- leading to on-time delivery of services and concrete results expected by customers.

Lisa is married and has two young adults, both juniors in college. She enjoys traveling in her free time with her husband of 25 years. People love working with Lisa and enjoy her constant and unending encouragement of others.

Sheryl Crook

Sheryl enjoys her position as the manager of the accounting department at SCS Midwest, Inc. Prior to her current position, Sheryl has worked with Karen Mack at Independent Compliance Solutions, Inc. (ICS) and Strategic Compliance Solutions, Inc.

Looking back a bit further, 1987 – 2003 was spent between St. Louis, Missouri and Norfolk, Virginia working for Trans World Airlines / American Airlines in the reservations department; with the last few years on the management team of the training department. She earned her associates degree from Parkland College, Champaign, Illinois in 1985. Sheryl and her husband do volunteer work for various organizations and are avid travelers.

With her excellent communication skills clients and vendors alike look forward to hearing Sheryl’s cheerful disposition when calling for assistance.
